21 Mar Tragic story from Tanzania
On March 21, 2024 WOH received heart breaking news from Fr. John Nkinga in Tanzania. Fr. John for many years was the director of the diocese where Wells of Hope (WHO) is based. We have had a great relationship with Ft. John for many years. He was transferred to another area in 2022, and this diocese is an exceedingly long way from our base. The area where Ft. Jonh services is an area that we have not reached yet. Ft. John pleaded with WOH, as he wrote: WELLS OF HOPE! WE NEED YOUR BROTHERLY CARE, GIVE US TRUE HOPE AND LOVE OF GOD!
Two siblings, Christiana, 6 years old and her brother 7 years old walked out of their village to get water from a very deep uncovered hole where the village goes for their water. Christiana accidentally dropped one of her shoes in the well. She then tried to recover the shoe and fell into the well. Her brother, traumatized, went back to the village, and did not tell anyone. Over an hour later the village people noticed Christiana missing. They asked Christiana’s brother where Christiana was, He just started pointing in the direction of the well. The village men ran as fast as they could to the well, found her shoe on top of the water but not Christiana. They sent a young man into the well and found Christiana at the bottom of this deep well and recovered her dead body. It was difficult for all in the village to lose such a beautiful little girl as Christiana. We have been praying for Christiana’s parents, relatives, the village people, along with her little brother for the Lord to heal this traumatizing experience, and her family. WOH is saddened and heartbroken by this tragedy We know that Christiana is now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
